| "Los Golindrinas Corral" |
 |
| “Nearly every landscape I paint is inspired by scenery from hikes or directly painting outdoors (plein air painting). All of my painting equipment fits in a backpack allowing me to trek off the beaten path. When painting outdoors, one must choose a scene that speaks to the heart. Once I’ve chosen a scene, I set up my equipment, do a quick sketch, and then begin working on the canvas. I always have a small digital camera in my pocket and take shots periodically as the light changes. Because the light and shadows move so fast, I need to paint quickly and decisively. One has about two hours to finish a painting before the light has changed too significantly."
