Julie Bernstein Engelmann - Gallery 527

Julie Bernstein Engelmann creates dynamic, brilliantly colored abstract paintings that speak to the heart and spirit. She begins with a meaningful title from her journal, then pours latex paint diluted to flow at different speeds. This planned “happy accident” offers breathtaking passages that she builds upon, using acrylic brushwork to create depth and drama. Educated on both coasts, Julie holds an MFA from UCLA and a BA from Barnard College in New York City, where she studied with abstract expressionist Milton Resnick. Julie's lush abstracts have won many Best of Show awards, and were featured in a solo show at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Painting above is titled "I Choose". 34"H x 44"W; acrylic & latex on unprimed canvas.

"I am the sculptor of my experience.
I choose, in every moment.
Every choice is beautiful and perfect.
Each was the best choice I knew how to make."
